In order for us to be able to conduct an interview properly we need to know how to act and how to phrase questions to get the answers we want.
A few tips to take note of are:
Be friendly - This will help the person you are interviewing feel more comfortable
Make sure you are welcoming - this will make you more 'likeable'
Don't sit with your arms or legs folded - an open position will make the person feel more accepted
Use open questions to begin with - this enables the interviewee to give fuller answers
Use closed question to help wrap up the interview - this is better than just cutting it off completely.
Make sure your questions are phrased right - Not only will this mean you are less likely to insult your interviewee but it will also help them feel even more comfortable. e.g you wouldn't ask someone like Stephen Fry how his day is going in slang, you would phrase it to suit him.
The most important tip to remember is:
BE PREPARED
make sure you know enough about your interviewee if not more, as they will have done research on you before hand and made sure they know enough about you, like what questions you are likely to ask, and how direct or indirect you are.
